Treatment Approach
Some of what brings people in is hard to say out loud, sex in particular. I want therapy to be a place where you can talk about any of it openly and without embarrassment.
My foundation is Psychodynamic. I’m curious about how your history shapes what you feel, what you want, and how you connect with others, often in ways that happen outside of awareness. Insight alone isn’t always enough, so I bring in other tools depending on what you need:
- EMDR helps when the past is still too present: a memory, a sense of shame, or a reaction in the body that hasn’t loosened even after you understand where it comes from.
- ACT helps with thoughts and feelings that won’t simply go away, so they take up less room and you can move toward what matters to you.
- Sex therapy brings this work into sex and intimacy: what has shaped your relationship to desire and pleasure, what gets in the way now, and what you want instead. It is talk therapy, and nothing physical happens in session.
With couples, we work to understand the pattern you’re caught in together. I often suggest exercises to try at home between sessions, so change happens in your relationship and not only in my office.
My style is warm, direct, and conversational. I’m committed to a practice that is inclusive, affirming, and culturally respectful, and I welcome clients of all races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and relationship structures. I’m especially interested in how dimensions of difference can bring us closer to others or keep us apart. My goal is to help you make sense of your experiences and move toward greater clarity and fulfillment.
